There are so many things that people do to spend their leisure time, so many things they choose as their hobbies, reading, singing, swimming, and many more. Collecting stamps is the other choice as a hobby. There are some advantages from collecting stamps, such as having a lot of friends, getting a lot of money, and training our patience and carefulness.

We can have a lot of friends from collecting stamps. By attending the meeting for filatelist (a person who collect the stamps), we can meet so many people from various backgrounds and different ages. Not only could we get information about stamps, but also about many other information. The other one is attending a stamps exhibition, people who has the same interest with us will be there too, so we can share everything about stamps with them.

Getting a lot of money is another advantages that we can get from collecting stamps. If we have rare stamps, for example, The Penny Black, we can sell it with high price, because the penny Black is the first stamps in the world and the collectors would do anything to get it. Beside the penny black, the collector also try to get the missprint stamps. Sometimes the missprint stamps could escape from government’s inspection, that makes the missprint stamp is so rare. For other people maybe missprint stamp is useless, because we cannot use it to send a letter, but for the collector it is valuable.

The most important thing from collecting stamps is that we can train our patience and carefulness. Being a filatelist needs a lot of patience because it is not easy to collect the stamps, especially to get the stamps that we want, we have to hunt them everywhere. The impatient person will not be a good filatelist. Collecting stamps also needs carefulness. We have to put those stamps in a proper place, usually in an album specially design to put stamps. We cannot touch the stamps with our bare hand, because we will leave our fingerprint there, and that is not good for the stamps. The collector must use the pincers to move them.

That is why so many people think that being a filatelist is boring and wasting time, and they seldom choose collecting stamps as their hobby. Being a filatelist maybe boring for some people, but actually we can get a lot of things from collecting stamps; friends, money, patience, and carefulness.
